NEW ZEALAND ORDERS

Within New Zealand, we use CourierPost and Castle Parcels.

Orders shipped in our standard parcel sized post bags are sent using an overnight delivery service. CourierPost targets delivery to business addresses by 9am on the next working day and residential addresses by the end of the next working day.

For rural addresses, allow an additional 2 to 3 working days beyond the standard delivery target.

Boxes and larger orders are generally shipped with Castle Parcels using a 2 to 3 working day service to urban addresses. Allow an additional 2 to 3 working days for rural delivery.

Our New Zealand delivery charges are based on the size of your order and whether the delivery address is urban or rural.

Small parcels

Small parcel rates apply to selected products such as Buckles, Pod Wallets and Grippin Belts.

Large parcels

Large parcel rates apply to products such as the Foray and Hector, as well as multi item orders that need to be packed in a box.

AUSTRALIA

Standard parcels are sent using NZ Post International Courier and include tracking. Delivery to urban areas generally takes 5 to 7 working days from dispatch.

Large orders may be sent using FedEx or DHL Express. Delivery to urban areas generally takes 5 to 10 working days from dispatch. Please allow additional time for rural or remote addresses.

Freight charges are based on the weight of your order and the delivery location. The applicable delivery cost will be shown after you enter your shipping address during checkout.

Customs fees, import duties and taxes may be charged by the destination country. These costs are the responsibility of the person receiving the parcel.

REST OF THE WORLD

International orders are sent using FedEx or DHL Express. These services cannot deliver to PO Boxes outside New Zealand and Australia.

Delivery to the United States generally takes 5 to 7 working days from dispatch. Delivery to other international destinations may take up to 10 working days from dispatch, depending on the location.

CACTUS DISPATCH TIMES

Orders are normally dispatched on the next working day. This excludes weekends and public holidays.

Dispatch may take longer during particularly busy periods, including promotions and sales.

If you need your order to arrive by a particular date, please contact us before placing your order. You can email us or call 0800 122 682 from within New Zealand or +64 800 122 682 from overseas. We will do our best to help, but delivery dates cannot always be guaranteed.

FURTHER INFORMATION FOR OVERSEAS ORDERS

Our checkout allows you to enter separate billing and shipping addresses.

All required commercial and customs documentation will be sent with your parcel. This documentation is necessary for international freight and customs clearance, so we cannot remove it or incorrectly describe the contents or value of an order.

Some countries charge import duties, taxes and customs clearance fees that are not included in our delivery charges. You will need to check the applicable requirements with the customs authority in your country.

New Zealand Goods and Services Tax may be collected on eligible overseas orders, including orders below relevant tax collection thresholds in Australia, the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom.

For orders above the applicable threshold, the destination country’s customs authority or freight provider may contact you directly to collect import taxes, duties or clearance fees.

Prices displayed on our website may change after you enter your shipping destination, depending on the taxes applicable to your order.

There are restrictions on the countries we can ship to. If your destination is not available during checkout, please contact us by email or call +64 800 122 682.

All prices are displayed in New Zealand dollars and all sales are processed in New Zealand dollars.

If you use an overseas credit card, your bank or card provider may charge a foreign currency conversion fee. Please contact your card provider before placing your order if you would like more information about these charges.

We accept payment by credit card, PayPal, Afterpay and direct deposit into our bank account.

PAYMENT VIA DIRECT DEPOSIT INTO OUR BANK ACCOUNT: 

If you're unsure about credit card security or don't have a credit card, you can pay by deposit into our New Zealand bank account. This will make the order process a couple of days slower. For buyers outside New Zealand, please note that any bank fees charged for international bank transfer are your responsibility so please make sure you arrange the bank transfer and the fees accordingly.

NZ ORDERS

We offer a reduce-risk online shopping experience. If what you received from us is not what you expected, or does not fit, send it back to us in its original condition with the original tags attached within 14 days and we'll either refund or exchange depending on what you want to do. Refunds are for the costs of the goods only; freight costs are non-refundable. We'll cover the cost of sending out a replacement if you so choose. 

OVERSEAS ORDERS

Freight Costs for overseas returns are non-refundable, bank fees are passed on to the customer, and costs for overseas exchanges are charged based on our standard shipping rates (unless we've mucked up and sent you the wrong item, in which case we'll refund you the cost of getting it back to us and cover the return shipping), so if you need more details about colours, fabrics etc. before you spend your hard-earned dollars, drachmas or yen, just email or call us +64 3 374 9268 with your questions. 

We'd suggest you track and trace courier when returning goods to us for your security as we cannot be responsible for the returns that go missing, even though it will cost you more. 

Note: customised items and clearance product cannot be returned or refunded. If, when you receive your customised item(s), you find that you have made a mistake in your order, please get back to us to discuss options. 

Due to face masks being a sanitary product, we cannot accept them for return, refund or exchange for any reason.

Socks and Merino Boxers must be unworn and un-used to be returned. 

This returns policy applies to all sales and only to the person who paid for the goods. You must email us and let us know prior to returning the product. Note that unnecessary freight is costly both financially and environmentally, so please choose carefully.

RETURNS FORM

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CACTUS SUPERTROUSERS: 

The fabric we use for these, an exclusive 12oz proofed canvas, is a fantastic fabric, perfect for these pants. It does require a bit of special care in the first few days of ownership though. 

Essentially, Canvas Supertrousers and Supershorts require a bit of a wear-in period to soften the fabric. When new, the stiffness of the fabric means it creases into points rather than nice soft folds - washing them in an aggressive or hot machine when new can cause damage on the crease-points. Our canvas also has a waterproofing agent which, if washed in an aggressive or hot machine, can shift and discolour - appearing as white lines which cannot be removed. The first three or so washes should be done by hand, then you should be right to machine wash them - use cold water with a mild powder detergent, rinse thoroughly and line-dry. Do not iron, dry clean, spin-dry or use bleach. 

Our Canvas is embedded with a water-resistant treatment that works very well when new, but after a lot of use this treatment becomes less effective. We've found if you want to add additional water-repellency, a Beeswax Bar works a treat (we have some online and in stores).

ZIPS:

Pesky little buggers, but they work so well. 

Zips are often the Achilles heel of any product we use them in. There's no real substitute for them though. We use the best quality YKK zips for maximum durability. As the end user you can definitely have a say in the lifetime you can expect from your zips. 

Zips require a lot of love every now and again. Typically they wear most when used when dirty - the dirt particles accelerate the wear of the slider (which is made of fairly soft materials so that it wears rather than the teeth). Keep zips clean and if you are really keen, a wee spray with silicon so they glide easily. 

IN USE

Try and de-stress the zip when you are sliding it. By this we mean, take any load off the zip by making sure you are holding the ends together. For example, on a pair of pants, do up the button before you do up the sliders (and, conversely, undo the zip before the button if you are taking them off). If a bag is really full, do up a compression strap or get someone to help you by holding the sides together. A sign that you are doing things right is if the slider can run freely - you don't want to be using it to pull the zip together. Make sure the zip is free of any foreign objects before you run the slider over them. 

THE WASHING MACHINE: 

To put it bluntly, the standard New Zealand top loading washing machine is a heavy handed brute of a thing. It uses way too much water, and shortens the life of your clothes with it's central agitator and harsh spin cycle. The longer, gentler wash cycle of a front loading machine is somewhat out of pace with modern life - no throwing a load on when you get out of bed and realise it's a good day for hanging laundry out - but on the other hand you can put a load on and squeeze a ride in the evening while it goes through ... 

PACKS & BAGS 

Definitely no packs in the washing machine - it's simply too harsh on the zips and buckles, and straps can and do cause fights with the washing machine, generally to the detriment of both parties. Hand washing with mild soapy water and a soft bristled brush, followed by a good rinse is your best bet. 

CLOTHING

No rocket science here - close any zips, inside out is a good idea to protect the outer face of the fabric, and an eco friendly washing powder is generally best for the washing, the environment, and your wallet (yes, the boxes are more expensive but check out the little baby scoop that's inside). 

WTF-3: WATERPROOF, BREATHABLE FABRIC

Like all waterproof breathable fabrics, WTF-3 works best when it's cared for properly. 

Your waterproof garment should be washed regularly, this is important because grime, sweat, dirt, etc. can stop the membrane in the fabric from breathing properly. Go for a gentle warm wash on a short cycle, using a mild liquid detergent. We use and recommend Gear Aid Revivex Pro Cleaner (we've got some online and in our stores). Tumble dry your garment on a medium heat. Do not dry-clean or bleach.  

The DWR coating on the outside of your garment repels water by encouraging it to bead off, which stops the fabric wetting out. When the face fabric wets out (becomes soaked) its breathability is compromised. With time, this DWR coating will wear off. To replenish the DWR coating, use Gear Aid Revivex DWR Spray on a clean and dry garment - then go play in the rain. 

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CACTUS PACKS AND OTHER GEAR:

Canvas is a wonderful material. A blend of polyester and cotton, Canvas is highly breathable while retaining a reasonable level of water resistance. Traditionally valued in New Zealand for it's utility in tramping packs (we have a lot of water and mud) we also use this fabric in our Dreadnought HD trousers where is excels in creating a long lasting and highly breathable trouser for cold mountain conditions. 

Like most natural things, canvas is pretty easy to look after: 

• Store your product dry, so that no nasty mildew will grow on it
• If soiled, sponge or light brush with mild pure soap (a woollen was or sunlight soap) to clean any biological (mud etc. can harbour enzymes and acid or alkali components which can damage canvas) material on it and drip dry

FABRICS & MATERIALS:

All our fabrics are carefully selected to be as hard wearing as possible. A bit of tender loving care when required will keep them performing for years to come. The general principles are to clean or wash things as gently as required to get the product clean, as often as necessary. 

DON'T STORE YOUR PACK OR CLOTHING WETIt's pretty tempting to throw things into a pile when you get home shattered from a long day's work or a hard mission, but storing things wet is probably the number one factory in shortening the life of a product. Particularly if there is canvas involved, which can mildew. At the very least, hang your gear up to air before you hit the couch - although if things are still wet the best thing is to give them a wipe down with some mildly soapy water and possibly a gentle brush to get ingrained dirt out. In our experience this happens a lot more easily if you've got a bucket with a couple of good brushes ready to go under the sink in the laundry - just add soap and water, and in a few minutes you'll be done.
